Windows XP Hardware Configuration for Wireless

The hardware configuration of your wireless network card is dependent upon the manufacturer of your laptop and that of your wireless network card. Please follow the instructions that the manufacturer provided with your wireless network card.

You can confirm that your card is configured properly by following the following steps

Step 1.

Click on "Start" and then "Control Panel"

Step 2.

Double-click on the "System"icon

Network & Dialup Connections icon

The System Properties will open

Step 3.

Select the "Hardware" tab and then "Device Manager".

Wireless Configurations

The Device manager window will open.

Step 4.

Expand the "Network Adapters" segment

Advanced Tab: SSID

You should see your wireless network card listed under Network adapters.
If your wireless card is not listed under Network adapters than it is not configured properly. Consult with the manufacturer or the manual to troubleshoot any issues.
